The next money question to ask

Last time we talked about the most important money question to ask. But once you’ve unlocked how your cash is flowing, it’s natural to ask whether or not it’s flowing the right way

Here’s the next question that will help you find that answer:

Does my spending reflect what is uniquely important to me?

That’s a heavy question so take a moment to reflect on it. Here it is one more time…

Does my spending reflect what is uniquely important to me?

This question is NOT an accusation but rather an invitation for introspection. Your spending quickly starts to look different when viewed through this lens.

For example, Michelle and I often joke that our dining out budget is essentially “unlimited” at this point – but making it easy and convenient to eat healthy is important to us. We’d rather spend the money to make sure we eat well and regain the time we would have to spend to make those meals ourselves.

As you reflect on your spending, look for ways to spend more on the people, experiences, and things that matter most to you — while reducing your costs in less important areas of your life.

Remember that there’s no right or wrong way for your cash to flow – only the way that best serves what uniquely matters most to you.
