I believe financial planning should allow you to create the life that’s right for you and your family.  When your finances are aligned with your values, your newfound clarity reduces your anxiety and frees you to pursue your passion.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, I help creative solo business owners and their families build financial plans that work with their lifestyle.

Plan for the work you love.

How is financial planning different for solo business owners?

You’ve got more flexibility than if you were working a 9 to 5 job, but forging your own career path brings extra challenges. Working together, we’ll build a financial plan that covers your bases -- from big goals, like retirement savings and planning for college, to short term aspirations, including travel and giving back to your community.

Many of my clients resonate with living an intentional life, so mindful practices have a way of showing up throughout the process. We take time to focus on the factors within your control and make space for practical implementation and continued flexibility as you apply the plan to your life.

As a CFP® professional I meet rigorous standards and have agreed to hold to principles of integrity, objectivity, competence, fairness, confidentiality, professionalism and diligence when working with clients.

Becoming a CFP® professional requires thousands of certification hours, met through years of work experience. All Certified Financial Planner™ professionals adhere to one of the the highest ethical and educational standards in the industry.

As a CFP® professional I’m committed to working on your behalf to help you:

  • identify your goals,
  • plan for the future,
  • and enjoy the life you’re crafting.

My Biggest Regret About Opening My Own Practice

Growing up the son of two small business owners I always dreamed of starting my own financial planning practice, but I kept putting it off, waiting for the perfect timing. As you know, the perfect time never appears, but I did get a little outside help. In 2009 my job became collateral damage of the economic downturn, so with my wife’s blessing and support, I launched my business.

More than nine years later my only regret is not leaping into my dream sooner.

As a solo-practitioner, my business allows my family to intentionally craft our lifestyle–complete with the flexibility to coach my daughter’s soccer team, volunteer in the community, serve on public boards and travel frequently.

Meet the Whole Gang

The decision to start from scratch would not have been possible without the support of my wife, Michelle. She has patience that I will never possess. I'm lucky to call her both my wife and best friend.

Michelle is passionate about nutrition, health and fitness. She’s also a runner, traveler, and foodie. While she’s an HR manager by day, Michelle is a wonderful mother to our daughter Reagan (aka "The Intern") who joined our family in June 2013. To say Reagan is our world would be an understatement and yes, she’s got both Mom and Dad wrapped firmly around her finger.

I played a lot of tennis growing up and I still enjoy playing at a semi-decent level most days. We enjoy hanging out with our neighbors in Riverside, making frequent trips to the Brookfield Zoo with Reagan, and visiting our local farmers markets in Oak Park & Riverside.

Travel is also an important part of our lifestyle. We spend part of the Chicago winter in warmer weather. We've visited Florida, Georgia, Arizona, Costa Rica, Jamaica, and Mexico in recent years. We also take frequent trips to the lake in Michigan and make it a priority to regularly visit Maine to see family and friends.
