The lie we tell ourselves
If I can just _________, THEN I’ll be happy, content, fulfilled, satisfied, etc, etc.
Guess what?
No you won’t.
Will you feel good for a while?
Of course.
But then you’ll quickly normalize it.
And once you do, you’ll jump straight to: “What’s next?”
Welcome to the hamster wheel of life.
How’s that going for you?
When we don’t stop to ask ourselves what uniquely matters most to us and why, we unconsciously fill in the blanks by looking outside of ourselves for the answers.
That’s how we end up with all the things we’re supposed to have – a good job, nice house, great neighborhood – and yet still find ourselves asking…
“Is this it?”
Becoming more intentional about choosing your own path can feel both scary and uncomfortable at first — especially if it doesn’t conform to society’s norms.
But in my experience, it’s the only place you’ll find that true sense of contentment and fulfillment that we all seek. And that seems worth a shot when the alternative is lying to ourselves.
