Swimming in the deep end

See this content in the original post

The Assistant (i.e. our oldest daughter) is taking swim lessons this fall and winter.

She’s NOT a fan but she keeps showing up — well, mostly because we make her :)

She does work hard once she gets in the pool though. You see, many of her friends already passed the swim test for the big pool at our swim club this past summer. She wasn’t ready to even attempt to take it. I guess peer pressure can be a good motivator after all!

Like the Assistant’s reluctance to put her head underwater, many folks are understandably reluctant to take the plunge (#DadPun) when it comes to getting started or regaining a better handle on their financial situation.

Look, I get it. The unknown is scary. Money can be overwhelming, intimidating, and emotional. Those things alone can be enough to stop us in our tracks.

But speaking from many years of helping guide Gen X families along their financial planning journey, I can assure you that pushing through any initial discomfort is a small price to pay for creating the life you desire.

And remember: You CAN have the life you desire.

So if you need some help getting started or back on track aligning your finances with what matters most to you, let’s schedule a time to talk in the new year.

As for the Assistant, we’re hopeful the work she puts in the pool this fall and winter pay off for her next summer.

I hope to see you all in the deep end soon, too.
