How to Get Off The Hamster Wheel

Has your life gotten so busy that you feel like you're just trying to stay afloat?

Tried of feeling like you're constantly getting knocked off track or losing focus?

You're certainly not alone.

I've caught myself on this same spillery slope before.

The good news is that you don't have to continue to feel this way, financially or otherwise.

Today we'll walk through a three step approach to help you get off the hamster wheel of life and start moving in the right direction again.

First, think of something – a problem or sitaution - that's been particularly bothering you recently.

It could be related to your finances, but it doesn't have to be.

Have you got it?

Start by writing down what's in your control about this problem

The only thing in your control about this problem or situation are the actions you choose to take.

No sense in getting held up by looking back and wondering “what if” about the past.

You only control the actions you take now and the changes you make from this point forward.

Now write down what is out of your control

This might sound obvious, but it's not.

Here are some of things you don't control:

The OUTCOME of your actions
What other people THINK about the actions you're taking
How other people REACT to the actions you've taken

Letting go of the perception of control where none exists is hard to do, but it is essential.

Decide on your actions and execute them

The choice to get off the hamster wheel is yours.

You stop worrying about all of the things beyond your control by focusing that same time and energy toward the actions that are fully within your control.

The only certainty in life is that things will not go as planned.

Letting go of a false sense of control creates room for the actions within your control. You'll also begin to experience a sense of calm and clarity knowing that you've done all that you can.

Remember, you don't have live in a constant state of worry and concern.

Instead, focus on what you control and recognize what you don't.

When you do that, you're now doing all that you can to make the best of your one shot at life.

I help people just like you navigate through this process every day, so if you'd like help getting started, go ahead and schedule a call when you're ready.
