No matter what your summer vacation plans look like this year, one universal benefit comes merely from changing your environment.

Whether it’s thinking about how great it’s going to be to “get away from it all” in the lead up to your trip or that moment when you arrive and take that first deep breath, vacations are a great reminder that changing your environment is good for your health.

However, changing your environment doesn’t have to be limited to your vacations.

It’s the low hanging fruit, mood altering tool that’s available to all of us at any time.

For example, you might not be able to transport back to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville this morning, but you can get outside and take a quick walk around a local nature preserve.

Changing your environment can also be as simple as closing your computer or putting your phone down, allowing you to be more present in the environment you already find yourself in.

So whenever you’re feeling stuck or in need of a pick-me-up, look for a simple way to change up your environment. This always accessible tool is a great reminder that one small change can often make a big difference.
